This was a childhood dream come true. I got to spend a whole day with the brave men and women of the Unified Fire Authority, who protect and serve our community every day. I felt like a kid again as I put on their heavy gear and jumped into a fire truck. I felt a rush of adrenaline as I grabbed a hose to put out a fire and used “the jaws of life” to rip apart a car. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience, and I am so grateful to the UFA for letting me join them for a day. I have a greater appreciation for the challenges they face physically, mentally, and emotionally.
